Writers

I produced Writers (ISSN 1832-0775) from September 2004 until June 2005 in Australia. Writers was a monthly magazine for readers and writers interested in personal stories. The magazine had three parts:

    1. Coverage/calendar of literature events

    2. Personal stories (1,000 words on something the writer really cares about) and

    3. An interview with a VIP author.

Each issue came in the A5-format, had twenty pages and was printed in full colour. The RRP was $4.95. Writers was sold in book stores and news agencies in the capital cities of all eight states and territories in Australia. Copies were sent to libraries, publishers and media.

Initially I produced Writers at home, printed it using my deskjet, folded and stapled it and sold it at a stall once a month at the North Sydney market. After ten months the magazine was printed professionally and had sponsors, subscribers and many writers who sent in their stories. Writers was mentioned in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Canberra Times and many publications of the writers' centres around Australia.
